Sold-out hall and victory for Finland – Finland to host the 2027 World Figure Skating Championships

Finland hosted the ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships in Helsinki at the Helsinki Ice Hall on 4-5 April 2025. The event was sold out quickly, with a hall capacity of 8,200 people.

After over a decade of wait, Finland’s Helsinki Rockettes claimed their 4th World title. This was a perfect way to celebrate 40 years of synchronized skating in Finland. Team Unique which is also from Finland took the silver medal.

The results strengthened Finland’s position as the most successful nation in the history of synchronized skating with a total of 10 World titles (out of 23) since the inception of the Championships in 2000 and 31 World Championship medals in total.

The best figure skaters take over the Nokia Arena in Tampere, Finland, in 2027

The Finnish Figure Skating Association has extensive experience and expertise in organising major skating competitions. Therefore, it’s no surprise The International Skating Union (ISU) has granted the Finnish Figure Skating Association the rights to organise the 2027 World Figure Skating Championships.

The Championships will take place from March 15 to 21, 2027, at Nokia Arena in Tampere. The Finnish Figure Skating Association previously hosted the World Figure Skating Championships in Helsinki in 2017.

“We are delighted and humbly grateful that the tradition of high-quality international skating events continues in Finland. This demonstrates the Finnish Figure Skating Association’s capability to host premier events where the audience enjoys a great atmosphere, and the athletes feel comfortable and able to perform at their best. The modern arena ensures world-class conditions for athletes and spectators,” stated Jouko Pitkänen, President of the Finnish Figure Skating Association.

Organising the World Figure Skating Championships in Tampere highlights the strong cooperation and shared ambition between the city and the Finnish Figure Skating Association to bring elite-level sports events to Finland.
