Important workshop topics and big emotions at the 2025 Lahti Ski Games

We, Sport Event Management Finland, organised an insightful workshop on 21 March 2025 in Lahti, Finland, at the Lahti Ski Games. The workshop focused on sustainability, financing, sponsorship, and upcoming changes in gambling regulations. Thirty participants, including city representatives, sports federations, and industry professionals, attended the event.

The speakers’ list consisted of four specialists: Aila Ahonen from Sport Business by JAMK, Elina Laine from Finnish Olympic Committee, Hannu Tolonen from Ministry of Education & Culture, and Laura Sandström from Sponsorointi & Tapahtumat ry (Sponsorship & Events).

Discussions reaffirmed that Finnish expertise in sports event management is world-class – undeniably one of our most substantial exports. To maintain this expertise, we must actively share knowledge and insights. When faced with funding challenges, creativity and collaboration become even more essential.

“On Saturday we experienced an incredible celebration of sports as 28,000 spectators created an unforgettable atmosphere at the venue. The weather was on our side, the competitions provided unforgettable moments, and our fantastic team ensured everything ran smoothly. A special thanks goes to our volunteers – without their dedication, an event like this would not be possible,” praised the event’s Secretary General, Tomi-Pekka Kolu.

Lahti Ski Games is all about big emotions, and the event once again proved how strong the community around Lahti Ski Games truly is. The total number of attendees over the weekend was approximately 57,000 which is a new record.
